Orville Andrew Lazenby's Obituary
Orville Andrew Lazenby, 89, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Genesis New Haven Center, New Haven. He was born on March 3, 1929 in Leipsic, OH to the late Andrew and Bernice (Sidle) Lazenby. He was a senior project engineer for over 25 years at B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn where he retired in 1987. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion 330, the Howard Bandelier V.F.W. 2457, The Navy Club Ship 245 all in New Haven and American Legion 381 of Rome City. Orville participated in the 20th Honor Flight in 2016. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, spending time on Hamilton Lake, Waldron Lake, and Lake Erie. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing cards and pheasant hunting. He especially loved to spend time with his family and friends hosting hog roasts, community stews, and gatherings.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ellen; Children, Edward (Carol) Lazenby of Napoleon, OH, Laura Lazenby and Robert Ritz both of New Haven; granddaughters, Jamie (Jason) Halley and Jennifer Lazenby both of Napoleon, OH; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Alec Halley. He was also preceded in death by his son Michael Lazenby and siblings, Eugene Lazenby, Annabelle Ritz, and Betty Baer.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1720 State Road 930 East, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Marty Hampton officiating. Visitation is also 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic, OH. Preferred memorials to the church or Honor Flight of N.E. Indiana.
