Orville John Bremer's Obituary
Orville John Bremer, 93, was born to August C. and Anna L. (Heine) Bremer on March 29, 1919 in Milan Township, New Haven, Indiana. He was baptized on April 20, 1919 and confirmed April 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Haven, Indiana. His confirmation verse was 1Corinthians 6:20.
He lived and worked on the Bremer homestead along with his parents, three brothers, Walter, Wilmer, Donald, and two sisters, Edna Krug and Helen Scott. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School.
On February 9, 1941, Orville was united in marriage to Ruth Kruse. They stood together and asked God for blessings in the years ahead. The Lord gave them 63 years of marriage. This marriage was blessed with seven children. Victor, Bernice, and Carol perished in a boating accident in 1949. Orville and Ruth always thanked the Lord for sustaining them through the difficult years following the accident. Their remaining children are Nancy (James) Fenske of Cleveland, Ohio, Dan (Sandi) of Monroeville, Steven (Tiara) of Woodburn and Kurt (Sherri) of New Haven. Orville was privilege to enjoy 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His wife, Ruth, went to be with her Lord on October 27, 2004.
Orville was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed serving on the original school board of Central Lutheran School for six year.
On November 4, 2007, he married Elaine Roemke from Woodburn. The Lord blessed them with four and a half years together. He is currently a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and an active member of the OWLS Bible Class.
This marriage brought into the family step-children, Dr. Kerry (Sandy) Litzenberg, Ted (Marian) Litzenberg, and Julie (Robert) Hockemeyer and seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Orville was known as the "Dirt Farmer." He truly enjoyed working with the soil all of his life. One of his favorite pastimes was restoring antique tractors. One of his favorite Bible passages was Psalm 121.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2012 with calling one hour prior at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Calling is also Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Don Sandman of Concordia Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial is in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven.
Orville requested memorials go to Concordia Lutheran School or to Central Lutheran School.
