Nancy Lou Losher's Obituary
Nancy L. Losher, 74 of New Haven, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, after a short battle with cancer in the presence of family at their lake home in Fremont, Ind. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Russel and Helen (Oehler) Meyer. She was a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. She will be remembered for her servant heart as Nancy was active in many areas at the church, including the Ladies Society, the church council, and other circles. She could regularly be seen volunteering at the church, whether helping with Lenten meals or the church rummage sale. Even after her children and grandchildren graduated, she continued to serve and support the mission of Central Lutheran School. Over the years, she coached girls' basketball, co-chaired the Gala, and served on the school board. Nancy was always willing to volunteer her time to both Emanuel and Central. Additionally, she was a member of Lake James Lutheran Chapel and served as the secretary for more than 20 years. Nancy was a member of the New Haven Fire Auxiliary and graduated from New Haven High School in 1969.
Nancy worked at the Indiana District Office, LCMS, before retiring in 2021 after 31 years. Previously, she dedicated her time to raising her girls and had a daycare at home. She thoroughly enjoyed watching and supporting all her grandchildren over the years with their sporting events or other activities. During the summer months, she enjoyed spending time at their home on Snow Lake.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Richard Losher; daughters, Sonja Meeks, Stephanie (Steve) Swinehart both of Fort Wayne, Sarah Hoffman of Elmhurst, Ill., Shannon Swoope of Houston, Texas and Sally Georges of New Haven; step-children, Tim, Dan and Lindsay Losher all of New Haven; siblings, Penny Meyer of New Haven, Dan Meyer of Hoagland and Tom (Debbie) Meyer of New Haven; grandchildren, Taylor, Brooklyn, Ella, Martin, David and Jaxson; step-grandchildren, Brandy (Will), Whitney (Jacob), Alexis (Jerrid), Grant, Rondyson (Tania), and Madelyn; step-great grandchildren, Patrick, Preston, Lillie, Raelynn, Freedom, Simba, Jensen and Wells.
She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Chad Hoffman (1973), and brother Ken Meyer.
Funeral service is 10:30 am Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitations are also 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at the church. Burial in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven.
