Nancy Luella Bertsche's Obituary
Nancy Luella Bertsche, 77, passed away June 6, 2017 at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born on February 21, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah Wayne and Susan (Musselman) Holsinger. She was a graduate of the 1958 JW Sexton High School class and the 1961 Parkview School of Nursing class. One of the great joys in her life was being a nurse for Dr. Kenneth Miller in Woodburn until the time of his retirement. She loved connecting with patient’s years after she had treated them in the office. She served in other doctor’s offices over the years as well as at Parkview Hospital and greatly preferred being a nurse to being a patient. Nancy was a devoted Christian and loved serving the Lord by serving people. She was a member of Woodburn Missionary Church, where she served many ministries during her life, and started a “Single Again Women” ministry following her husband’s passing in 2013. Her grandchildren brought great joy to her life and she loved to hear about their activities and hated missing them when she couldn’t attend. She was a people person and loved meeting new people and connecting with them. She loved doing therapy at Turnstone and was so appreciative of all the people there. Nancy was a breast cancer survivor and battled myelodysplastic syndrome for the last year. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Amy) Bertsche of New Haven; brother, Jerry Holsinger of Colorado; and grandchildren, Lucas and Katelyn Bertsche of New Haven. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Herbert Bertsche; and son Jim Bertsche.
Funeral service is 3:30 p.m. Friday at Woodburn Missionary Church, 5108 Bull Rapids Rd., Woodburn with calling one hour prior. Pastor Bert Jones officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial in the Mennonite Cemetery, Woodburn. Preferred memorials are to Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults of Fort Wayne or Woodburn Missionary Church. Arrangements by E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven.
