Mildred F. Dawson's Obituary
Mildred F. Dawson, 93, of Ossian, formerly of New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Ossian Healthcare. Born on November 20, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Clara (Bobay) Bradtmueller. On December 1, 1932, she was born through the water of Holy Baptism at Martini Lutheran Church, New Haven. On April 14, 1946, Mildred confirmed her faith in the triune God through the Rite of Confirmation at Martini Lutheran Church. She was a 1951 graduate of New Haven High School. On April 8, 1953, she joined in marriage to Robert G. Benedict for 12 years, who preceded her in death in 1965. She remarried to Charles Dawson on February 24, 1968, who also preceded her in death in 1999. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. She was a cook and auxiliary member at American Legion Post 241 and had also cooked at American Legion Post 330, retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Michael) McBride, and Patricia (Richard) King; daughter-in-law, Sandy Benedict; stepdaughters, Janice Bowers and; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel (Sandy) Benedict; stepdaughter, Norma (Steve) Campbell; siblings, Edwin Bradtmueller, Elmer Bradtmueller, Arthur Bradtmueller, Helen Fuhrmann, Elsie Bradtmueller, Lawrence Bradtmueller, Alvin "Pete" Bradtmueller, Gilbert Bradtmueller, Elna Weitfeldt, Leona Weitfeltd, and Adelia Hoffmeier; and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joan Benedict.
Funeral service is 10 am Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 State Road 930 E, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday August 14, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.
