Maxine M. Remenschneider's Obituary
Maxine Marie Remenschneider, 96, of New Haven, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 28, at Seasons Home Care Hadley House, Fort Wayne. On September 12, 1926, Maxine was the first of three children born to Herman "Pete" and Marie (Bulmahn) Macke in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the first baby baptized at the newly formed Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and was also amongst the first confirmands there. In 1948, Maxine married her beloved "Bud" Remenschneider. They were long-time members of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven, where she served in the Ladies Society and Mission Circle. Maxine often worked alongside her husband at Deluxe Dry Cleaners. Later, after Bud became a partner at Bremer's Lawn & Garden Store, she developed and ran an added gift shop that was among the first to carry the Precious Moments Collection. She loved gardening and retired in 1992 from Bremer's Lawn and Garden after 12 years. She had also worked for Guilliam's Grocery Store, New Haven, and the New Haven High School cafeteria. Maxine was a wonderful cook, famous for her pies. She also loved crocheting and made countless beautiful afghans for her grandchildren. She demonstrated gracious hospitality, and showered unconditional love on all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Leslie), Rev. Dennis (Connie), Kenneth (Sharon), Gary (Kay) and Jon Remenschneider; sister Gloria Nimtz; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Elmer "Bud," in 2013 and brother, Roger Macke.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2023, at the church. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials to the church.
