Mary S. Linker's Obituary
Mary S. (Koenigseker) Linker, age 68, of New Bern, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on September 12, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Lou (Shanahan) Koenigseker. A 1974 graduate of Bluffton High School, she went on to earn her associate's degree in interior design at IPFW. Mary made a successful career in the fashion retail industry and interior design consulting, eventually settling in South Haven, Michigan in 1995. Not only did she fall in love with the area, but she met and fell in love with her husband, Bruce Linker. They were married on a sailboat on Lake Michigan on a beautiful July day in 1998. Mary could often be seen walking her beloved dogs, spending time at the beach or on their boats. Upon Mary's retirement in 2020, Mary and Bruce sold their possessions and bought a 42' Trawler to fulfill their dream of navigating the Great Loop. They were successful in completing half of the Loop until Mary's sudden illness this past November.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bruce; sister, Jenny (Ed) Sahm of Indianapolis; and brother, Brad Koenigseker of Fort Myers, Fla.; niece, Shelby (Sean) Horning; and nephew, Sean Rymers. She was also preceded in death by her niece, Sarah Koenigseker.
