Mary Louise Kroemer's Obituary
Mary Louise Kroemer, 92, died peacefully at home Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, her loving husband Dolan and several of her children at her side. She was born March 1, 1921, in Alpha, MN, the first child of Rev. Henry A. and Wilhelmina (Lindner) Abram.
The family moved to Fort Wayne in 1933 when Rev. Abram accepted the call to become pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a position he held until his death in 1960.
Mary Louise graduated with honors from Concordia High School in 1939. She attended one year at the Luther Institute after high school and always enjoyed learning and excelled in her studies. She worked at the Fort Wayne Public Library before her marriage, and retired in 1982 from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company following a long career in the mortgage loan department.
Mary Louise was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting and quilting and crafted beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed music, playing cards, time at the lake and working crossword puzzles. But more than anything else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She lived a long and happy life filled with accomplishment, laughter, the love of family and friends and a deep and abiding faith in God.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dolan E. Kroemer, whom she married April 1, 1942 in Fort Wayne while he was home on leave from the U.S. Army during World War II. Also surviving are their children: Susan (Rev. Dr. Terry) Germann, Taos, NM; James (Cheryl) Kroemer, Syracuse, IN; Kathryn (Michael) Johnson, Leo-Cedarville; Sharon (David) Graham, Fort Wayne; Jane (David) Waggoner, Grabill; and John (Debra) Kroemer, Fort Wayne; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and brother, William P.
