Mary J. Ort's Obituary
Mary J. Ort, 82, of New Haven, passed away September 13, 2014 at Parkview Regional Home Health and Hospice, Ft. Wayne. Born in Gary, she was the daughter of the late Pauline McKimpson. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. She retired from Carl's Tavern, New Haven after 30 years. Her life was her kids and grandkids and she enjoyed going to all their sporting events. She was an avid sports fan following Notre Dame Football and participated in NFL fantasy football.
Mary is survived by her children, Becky (Tom) Keith of Fort Wayne, Karen (Mark Newman) Treat of Columbia City, Joe (Catherine) Ort of New Haven; brother, James (Janet) McKimpson of N.C.; grandchildren, Lindsey (Clifton) Harris, Tye Ziadeh, Dustin Keith, Joe, Austin, and Colton Ort, Paige and Lauren Cheatham; and 11 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George Ort in 2007; daughter, Sharen (Denny Bowling) Cheatham.
Funeral service is 7 p.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitations 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. prior to service. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Preferred memorials are to St. Jude's Hospital and Make a Wish Foundation.
