Mark Gerard Grimmer's Obituary
Mark Gerard Grimmer, 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, he was the son of the late Roy and Veronica (McNerney) Grimmer. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. Mark served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and volunteered his time at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System and Parkview Hospital – Randallia, Fort Wayne. He was an independent truck driver for many years, retiring in 2007. Mark was an avid sports fan who followed the Detroit Tigers and Notre Dame sports.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie; children, Greg (Teresa) Grimmer of Lawrenceburg, Nick (Larita) Grimmer of Fishers, Sue (Dave) Ridge and Diane (Steve) Bruder both of New Haven; siblings, Tom Grimmer of Mount Vernon, WA, and Barbara Hoevel of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Adam and Eric Ridge, Ashley and Brandon Grimmer, Trammell, Paige, and McKenna Grimmer; and great grandchildren, Jordan and Brianna. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Helmkamp, Veronica Schaitman, Donna Getty, Martha McCrady, Anne Applegate, James, Jerome, Paul, and Roy Grimmer.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with calling half hour prior to service. Father Bill Sullivan Officiating. Visitation is also 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday with a 3:45 p.m. vigil at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the church or St. Vincent DePaul Society Fort Wayne.
