Marjorie L. Bates' Obituary
Marjorie L. Bates, 84, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Greystone Health and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne. Born in Muncie, she was the daughter of the late William and Marie (Clevenger) Main. She was a 1952 New Haven High School graduate, a member of New Haven United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women. She retired in 1996 from Wells Fargo Bank after 26 years. She was also a member of the Aboite Library Book Club, Red Hat Society, and was active at the Fort Wayne Community Center. She enjoyed playing bridge, mahjong, games, and loved spending time with her friends. A supporter of the arts she loved local theatre, concerts, and volunteered at the First Presbyterian Theater. She is survived by her children, Maureen (Larry) Watson of New Haven, Connie (Blaine) Heinfeld of Fort Wayne, Jonathon Daniel (Alton LaDay) Glus of San Diego; step-children, Peggy Bates, Barbara (Ken) Didion, and Sheri Williams all of Fort Wayne, Randal (Lori) Bates of Sacramento; grandsons, Benjamin (Jennifer) Bates and David Heinfeld both of Fort Wayne; and great grandchildren, Kayla, Ben Jr., and Anthony Bates. She was also preceded in death by her husband Onie in 2001; and siblings, Dolores Sharp and Howard Main. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Hwy. E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Visitation is also 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven.
