Marilyn L. Jarvis' Obituary
Marilyn L. Jarvis, of New Haven died at the Parkview Regional Medical Center on February 18, 2014, following a courageous battle to live beginning with a confinement there on November 17, 2013. She was born in Galesburg, Illinois on September 28, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Leo and Irma Windish of Galva, Illinois. Marilyn graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa in 1958 with a degree in Home Economics. On June 21, 1958, she was married and she and her husband Marvin who survives moved to Indiana to start a long life together. She worked in the dietary department at Parkview Hospital for several years and later for the Hallmark Greeting Card Company. She managed an antique business for many years and cherished the friends she met including the members of the East Allen Enchanted Doll Club. Marilyn's love for her family and friends included many sacrifices by her to help assure their happiness. She was blessed with a special talent of caring for animals and thoroughly enjoyed her precious cats Sonny and Gracie. Watching IU basketball games was one of Marilyn's passions.
Marilyn is also survived by her children, Margo of New Haven and Mark of Lafayette; granddaughter, Katie of Mishawaka; sister, Patricia Griggs of Galva, IL; special friend, Joy Bishop of Linden, and brother-in-law, Alvin (Dee) Jarvis whose Iowa farm she loved to visit.
Funeral service is 12 p.m. Saturday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Kevin DeKoninck officiating. Calling is also 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven.
