Marie Eleanor Melcher's Obituary
Marie Eleanor Melcher, 97, of New Haven, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Cedarhurst, Fort Wayne. Born in Woodburn, she was the daughter of the late William and Hilda (Norden) Paterson. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, New Haven, where she was a member of the choir with her husband for many years. She enjoyed her flowers, cooking, quilting, and a good hand of euchre.
She is survived by her sons, William (Mary) Melcher, and Terry (Linda) Melcher; sisters, Peggy (Nick) Lake, and Barbara Rainey; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Strasser, and Betty Paterson; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Otto Melcher; siblings, Robert Paterson, Dorlene Poling, Carol Kilpatrick, and Connie Howard. The Melcher family wants to thank all the caring and loving staff at Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne and Stillwater Hospice, Fort Wayne, that gave such great care to our mother and grandmother. Funeral Services is 10 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 State Road 930 E., New Haven, with visitation one hour prior (9-10am). Visitation is also 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Gar Creek Cemetery.
