Lyle R. Elser's Obituary
Lyle Russel Elser, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Dupont Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Pierson, Iowa, he was the son of the late Russel and Louise (Pitsenbarger) Elser. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. He retired from BF Goodrich in 1994 after 34 years and went on to work at Cooper Tire in Auburn for six years. An avid sports fan, he could be found cheering on Iowa Hawkeye sports and enjoyed league bowling. He was also a member of Fort Wayne Rubber Group and enjoyed a good debate, camping, and going out for dinner.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Darlene; children, Michael Elser and Renae (James) Knoch; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Mayers, Derrick (Natalie) Edwards, Kevin (Nichole) Elser, Jr, Kimberly (Aaron) Tremain, Adam, Eric, and Korey (Adeline) Beber, and Logan, Tanner, and Cheyenne Luffman; and 12 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kevin Elser Sr in 2015; and sister, Lila Harvey.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St, New Haven with visitation from one hour prior. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m Friday, April 26, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E, New Haven. Entombment in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
