Louis Laurent's Obituary
Louis B. Laurent, 77, of New Haven, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at home with his family by his side. Born in Decatur, he was the son of the late George and Margaret Laurent. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. He retired in 1989 after a long teaching career with East Allen County Schools. He was also a member of N.E.A., I.S.T.A., East Allen Education Association, I.U. Alumi, St. Francis Alumi, and Knights of Columbus. He was a supervisor for New Haven, Adams Twp. Park Dept. for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vera; sons, Chris (Cindy), Ron (Paula), Sam (Alice), Tony (Shannon), Tim (Susan), Rick , and Mark (Holly) Laurent; daughters, Gerri (Denny) Culbertson and Jeanie (Rob) Tressler; brothers, Jerry (Sharon) and Ed (Carole) Laurent; sisters, Marlene (Joe) Morin, Georgia (Bob) Doyle, and Joan (Dave) Sprunger; 21 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth; and sister, Theresa Teeple.
Prayer service is 10 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven. Father James Seculoff officiating. Calling is also 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at the funeral home with a rosary at 1 p.m. Burial is in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to St. John’s Catholic Church or Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
