Loretta Fiedler Unsicker's Obituary
Loretta J. Fiedler-Unsicker 91, of Woodburn, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Heritage Park, Fort Wayne. Born on December 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Clara (Gerig) Yaggy. A 1950 graduate of Woodburn High School, she went on to work at US Rubber Company for four and half years. She then went into management with BF Goodrich Employee Federal Credit Union, Woodburn, retiring in 1993. She was also in the credit union movement for 25 years, was president with the Indiana Northeast Chapter Board for three years, served on committees with the Credit Union League in Indianapolis, and worked with Junior Achievement teaching credit classes in high schools once a week. Loretta served on the Woodburn Industrial Park Committee and was a member of the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce, where she helped decorate Woodburn for the seasons and holidays. After her retirement she helped at Dove’s Nest, Fort Wayne. Growing up in a musical household, she sang in the church choir, numerous weddings, and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She is a past member of Brookside Church, Fort Wayne, and recently started attending at Lake George Lutheran Chapel, Fremont. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining family and friends, Happy Hour at The Lake, and watching the children participate in their sporting events. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Theodore; son, Kevin (Angie) Fiedler; daughter-in-laws, Jan, Joyce, and Deb Fiedler; stepchildren, Susan (Stan) Werling, Jane Unsicker, and Joan (Dan) DeCambra, Mary Ann Unsicker; 9 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 17 step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Fiedler in 1996; sons, Keith, Rick and Michael Fiedler; grandson, Shawn Fiedler; great granddaughter, Hadley Logan; and stepson, Todd Unsicker. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 State Road 930 E., New Haven with visitation 2 hours prior. Burial in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn, IN. Preferred memorials are to Lake George Lutheran Chapel, Woodburn Christian Children’s Home, or Woodburn Lutheran School.
