Lester D. Fry's Obituary
Lester D. Fry, 82, went home "To Glory" Sunday morning, February 9, 2014 at his home in Woodburn. Born in Fort Wayne on December 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles and Martha (Busche) Fry. The family moved to Woodburn six months later and became members of Christ Lutheran Church, where they still attend. Lester graduated Christ Lutheran Elementary and Woodburn High School, where he met his future wife of 60 years, Ruth (Stoller) Fry. Ruth, along with their son Dennis Fry, were Lester's caregivers, both survive. He retired in 1994 from Erie Haven after 32 years.
He is also survived by his children, David (Deb) Fry of Fort Wayne and Vickie (Alan) Sears of Florence, SC; sister, Ruth Ryan of Churubusco; and several nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Butch". He was also preceded in death by his sister, Alice Dix; and an infant brother.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St., Woodburn with calling one hour prior. Rev. Timothy Edwards officiating. Calling is also 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Christ Lutheran Church.
