Leroy D. Girardot's Obituary
Leroy D. Girardot, 87, passed away September 8, 2012 at Van Crest Nursing home in Delphos, OH. He was born December 6, 1924 in Fort Wayne, to Simon and Opal Girardot and was a lifelong resident of New Haven. He married his cherished wife, Lois Irene (Hey) on May 4, 1946 who passed on November 18, 2000. Leroy retired from International Harvester after 31 years of service. Leroy served in the US Army WWII and was wounded in action at Livergnamo, Italy on Oct. 18, 1944. He was awarded the Bronze Battle Star, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon and a Purple Heart. He held all offices in the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 40 in Fort Wayne, IN. Leroy Girardot was an inspiration to all of his family and friends by being a constant role model of unconditional Love, Honesty with an ornery sense of humor. Leroy was an avid fisherman throughout his life. He also was an active golfer, bowler, Little League Coach, Adult Supervisor of the Meadowbrook Teen Club, Box Office Manager for the Fort Wayne Komets and was respected and loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, LeeDell Girardot (Linda, deceased) of Fort Wayne, Leslie Girardot of Atlanta, GA and Lynn (Mike) Scholfield of Lima, OH; brother, Simon (Gladys) lives in Mears, MI. Bill (June) Hey of Willshire, OH; Judy Hey of Lima, OH and Sheldon Bresin, CA remain his steadfast brother and sister-in-laws. Adored and loved grandfather to Lori (Phillip) Fricks, Jenifer (Steve) Smith, John (Marcia) Girardot and Mathew Girardot; four great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Virgil, Kimsey and a sister, Mary.
Memorial service is 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Wayne Karges officiating. In memory of dad, in lieu of flowers please make contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
