Leonard Otto Goeglein, 86, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Otto and Bertha Goeglein. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He was a 1946 graduate of New Haven High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 330. He retired in 1992 from Standard Register after 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hottman; children, Julia (Dave) Thieme of Huntertown, Chris (Deb) Goeglein of Fort Wayne, and Mark (Michelle) Goeglein of Harrisonville, MO; step children, David (Karen) Hottman of Fort Wayne, Bethlyn (John) Bertram of Marion, and Patricia (Greg) Wistow of London, Ontario, Canada; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Goeglein; brothers, Donald, John, Richard, and Milton; and two grandchildren.
Funeral service is 12 noon Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Pastor Steve Ahlersmeyer officiating. Calling is also 2 to 8 Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial are to the church.
