Leah "Marie" Grimmer's Obituary
Leah “Marie” Grimmer, 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Parkview Hospital - Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born in Ferndale, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Leah (Ostrander) Hardin. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. She taught many students over her long career, retiring from Fort Wayne Community Schools in 1992. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, judging science fairs, knitting, crossword puzzles, and was an active member of the Settlers of Fort Wayne and the New Haven Women’s Club. She is survived by children, Greg (Teresa) Grimmer of Lawrenceburg, Nick (Larita) Grimmer of Fishers, Sue (Dave) Ridge and Diane (Steve) Bruder both of New Haven; brother, Warren Hardin of Cottage Grove, WI; grandchildren Adam (Kayla) and Eric Ridge, Ashley, Brandon (Julia), Trammell, Paige, and McKenna Grimmer; and great grandchildren, Jordan, Brianna, Madelyn, McKinley, Marissa, Asher, and Mylo. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mark in 2017; and sisters, Doris Papanichola, Nancy Davis, and Ruth Hayes. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St, New Haven with visitation half hour prior. Visitation is also from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with a prayer vigil at 6 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery.
