Lawrence "Larry" Garstka's Obituary
Lawrence Eugene “Larry” Garstka, 79, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Kendallville to the late Marion and Rose (Sollenberger) Garstka. Larry retired in 2000 after working 50 years as a yardmaster for the Wabash Railroad and the Norfolk Southern Railroad, Lake Division, New Haven. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Navy Club Ship 245, the V.F.W. Post 2457, New Haven, American Legion Post 160, Roanoke, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1480, New Haven. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his dogs, Matilda and Twink. Larry also enjoyed many years at the Big Long Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Donna (Helms) Garstka; children, Teri Garstka, Terry (Diana) Garstka and Barry Wygant ; step-children, Deonna (Earl) Welty, Cathy Burrows, Clark, William, Michael, and Robert (Laurie) Crow; siblings Theodore Garstka, James (Patricia) Garstka both of New Haven, and Caroline Smith, of Huntington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is Noon Thursday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation two hours prior. Preferred memorials are to The Shepherd’s House, Fort Wayne.
