LaVon Mary Ertel's Obituary
LaVon Mary Ertel, 82, of New Haven, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Monroeville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Luetta (Bolyard) Girardot. She graduated from Hoagland High School in 1961. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. She retired in 1997 from General Electric after 35 ½ years. While at GE she was active in the local 901 as a union steward and reading clerk. LaVon enjoyed many years of bowling, but most of all, spending time with the children, the grands, and great grands.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (John) Kumfer, Shelley (Gregg) Spieth, and Todd (Karen) Ertel; grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Bultemeier, Halie (Colin) Harting, Jerrid (Alexis) Rydell; step-grandchildren, Cody Miller, and Jacob (Brittney) Miller; great grandchildren, Annistyn Bultemeier, Leland Bultemeier, Deacon Bultemeier, Waylin Harting, Kenlie Harting, Rhett Harting, Marrin Harting, Miley Brown, Adalynn Brown, Jensen Rydell, and Wells Rydell; step-great-grandchildren, Lexi, Maverick, Wrenlee, Hadley, and Sutton Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ertel, granddaughter, Courtney Ertel; brothers, Richard, Don, Harold, Wayne, and Claude Girardot; mother-in-law, Jean Renier. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Thursday, March 20, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a rosary service at 3:45 pm. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to the church.
