Larry W. Rekeweg's Obituary
Larry W. Rekeweg, 72, of Woodburn, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Velma (Osterhaus) Rekeweg. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Woodburn. A lifelong farmer he enjoyed his time in 4-H, especially when he won Champion of Champions with his prize steer. He also found joy in raising his cattle and horses. He retired from Dana Corp with over 30 years and went on to drive bus for East Allen County Schools, which he loved. An avid sports fan, he followed the Indianapolis Colts, IU Basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals, but could always be found cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Scott) Whitacre, Julie (Eric) Noonan, and Jessica (Matthew) Reynolds; sister, Janice Rond; and grandchildren, Kent Whitacre, Caleb, Colton, and Catelyn Noonan, Landon, Maddie, and Ava Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Kathy in 2024; and infant sister, Jeanette.
Funeral service is 11 am Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 7616 Bull Rapids Rd., Woodburn with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn.
