Larry G. Doctor's Obituary
Larry Gene Doctor, 80, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Williard and Lydia (Christianer) Doctor. He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne and Grace Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Raised on a farm, he went on to serve his country in the US Navy during Vietnam on the USS Goldsborough DDG-20. After returning from the Navy, he spent his career as a Vice President with Anthony Wayne Bank, Fort Wayne, The Union State Bank, Payne, Ohio, and DeKalb Financial Credit Union, Auburn, retiring in 2014. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed walking, hiking, and loved doing outdoor activities with his nieces and nephews. He was also an active member of the American Heart Association and loved his time in Key West and Aruba.
He is survived by his sisters, Gloria Jackson and Phyllis Kleinknight; nephews, Scott Kleinknight and Gregg T. (Fabia) Brunnick; nieces, Dawn (Randy) Stephenson and Gay (Jeff) Rude; brother-in-law, Gregg J. Brunnick; and great nephews and nieces, Ben and Grant Rude, Rachel and Sara Stephenson, and Katrina Brunnick. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Donna Brunnick; brother-in-law, John R. Kleinknight; and great nephew, Corey Stephenson.
Funeral service is 11 am Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with visitation two hours prior (9 to 11am). Entombment in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne with military honors.
