Kenneth H. Werling's Obituary
Kenneth H. Werling, 83, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, while a resident at Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the eldest son of the late Vermont and Victoria (Wesling) Werling. Kenneth was a farmer all his life, residing outside of New Haven. He and his brother, Gene, who also preceded him in death, enjoyed rural life and discussing crops, the weather, farming equipment, and other agricultural topics. Ken especially enjoyed going to farm sales to check on the local news and what was being offered for sale. Together with Gene, the "Werling boys" could often be seen frequenting the stores and restaurants of New Haven riding in their red Ford pick-up. Ken was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, in New Haven, serving as an usher for many years. Usually, he did more talking with members than his ushering duties. He also enjoyed following the basketball fortunes of New Haven High School and the Indiana Hoosiers and remained a Bob Knight supporter to the end.
