Kenneth L. Rekeweg's Obituary
Kenneth L. Rekeweg, 83, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne. Born in Maumee Twp, Allen County, he was the son of the late Melvin and Alma (Binger) Rekeweg. He was a member of Promise Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne where he oversaw and supervised the construction of the current church. He served his country in the US Army, was a board member at Woodburn Lutheran School, and a volunteer firefighter at the Woodburn Fire Department for 30 years, where he was a past fire chief. He farmed, worked for STI Construction, Star Builders and retired in 2004 from Hoeppner Construction. He enjoyed traveling to every state, golfing, playing horseshoes and flying model airplanes. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris; sons, Lynn (Julie) Rekeweg of Coatesville, Terry Rekeweg of Raleigh, NC, and Kenton (Jennifer) Rekeweg of Fort Wayne; sister, June (John) Hiller of Glen Allen, VA; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lester Rekeweg. Family receiving friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven followed by a private family service. Entombment in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Promise Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.
