Karlton "Karl" Holle's Obituary
Karlton "Karl" Holle, 87, of Fort Wayne, joined his Savior Jesus Christ forever on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Lutheran Downtown Stellhorn, Fort Wayne. Born on June 21, 1936, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Truman and Luella (Knipstein) Holle. He graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran grade school on Barr St. in 1950, North Side High School in 1954 (where he was on the National Honor Society, tennis team, and played French Horn in the band), and Indiana University, Bloomington in 1958 (where he received his MSBA from IPFW in 1976). He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. He became an ensign in the US Navy after Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, and went on to attend Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia, before serving two years as a Navy Exchange Officer in Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada, retiring in 1980 with the rank of Commander. He went on to retire in 1998 from North American Van Lines after 36 years, and was also the director of the American Movers Conference. He loved golfing (he had one hole in one), bass fishing, rabbit hunting, playing euchre, listening to jazz music, dry martinis, dry red wine, organ concerts, running in races, his computer, and his accomplishment of traveling to all 50 states. He also enjoyed supporting/watching IU sports (he was a season ticket holder over 25 years for basketball and football), and St. Louis Cardinal baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol (Springer) Holle; children, Kevin (Julie) Holle of Fort Wayne, Kim (Ricky) Jacob of Winnebago, Neb., and Kirsten (Ron) Coleman of Magnolia, Tex.; brother, Ron (Shirley) Holle of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Evan (Diana) Jacob, Kelly (Nick) Bristow, Sierra Jacob, Keegan (Jesse) Schlie, Braeden, Quinton, and Jordan Holle, Merritt, and Reed Coleman; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way in February 2024.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E, New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial in the church cemetery with military honors. Preferred memorials to Central Lutheran School, New Haven.
