Joseph A. Ziegler, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Heritage Park Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Remington, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Taylor) Ziegler. He was a member of Grace Gathering, New Haven. He Read Obituary
Lots of fun running related memories with Mr. Ziegler (as I knew him). He encouraged his son Jerry to give running a try, and Jerry turned into quite the runner. When I joined the New Haven Jr. High cross country team in the fall of 1979, Jerry and I became great friends and had many running adventures with his Dad: Lincoln 10K, FWTC races, etc. I found it inspiring Joe continued to run after his vision was lost. I knew, and ran, with Joe for many years, even before his vision issues became prevalent. Rarely did I finish ahead of him in races, but it was always a goal. Back then, he loved to talk about training with the "younger kids." Sorry to hear of his passing, but he left a lot of us with grateful memories. Rest in peace, Joe.
