Joseph "Joe" G. Hathaway's Obituary
Joseph “Joe” G. Hathaway, 83, of New Haven, was called to his heavenly home, Thursday, June 16, 2011 while at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Culver, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nellie Anderson Hathaway. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. Joe served his country as a Marine during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 330. He retired in 1983 from International Harvester after 36 years.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Linda) Hathaway of Woodburn, Sandy (Doug) Lortie and Shelia (Mark) Berning both of New Haven; step-sons, Bob Stemmler of New Haven and John Stemmler of Perrysburg, Ohio; sisters, Lois Hoehn of Columbia City and Lucille Lerch of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Barbara Hathaway-Pond of New Haven; 11 grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Marilyn M. Hathaway in 1984 and 2nd wife, Marylinn C. Hathaway in 2009; and brother, Roy E. Hathaway.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Timothy Sims officiating. Calling is 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials to Central Lutheran School or Woodburn Christian Children’s Home.
