John E.W. Payton's Obituary
John Everette William "J.P." Payton, 60, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Genesis Healthcare, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Clare and Dorothy Payton. As a US Marine, John, served his country during Vietnam and was a supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project. For the past 15 years was employed with Stonhard. John loved football, baseball, fishing, country music, and war movies.
He is survived by his children, John King and Michelle Fornell both of Fort Wayne; siblings, Robert (Suzi) Payton of Sandy, UT, James Payton, George Payton, Richard Payton, and Merrie (Curtis) Voltz all of Fort Wayne, and Cherrie (Robert) Ryan of New Haven; and grandchildren, JaHavah Jackson-King, Cayden King, and John King all of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by son, Curtis Fornell.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne with military honors. Preferred memorials are to the Wounded Warriors Project.
