John Wayne North's Obituary
John Wayne North, 75, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Huntington, he was the son of the late Roy and Lucile (Creager) North. He was a member of Lifeway Wesleyan Church, Fort Wayne, where he showed his love of music in the choir. The US Navy veteran was a sports lover and refereed basketball for 12 years. He retired from Navistar after 30 years, and went on to drive bus for East Allen County Schools.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl; son, Anthony Wayne North of Fort Wayne; siblings, Ron (Inga) North of La Fontaine, Tom (Peggy) North of Roanoke, Don (Jolene) North of Gwinn, MI, Jim North of Huntington, and Judy North of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Miranda North; and great granddaughter, Kilaya Rae Koontz. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Gary North.
Funeral service is 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lifeway Wesleyan Church, 7722 Moeller Rd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Pastor Rick Fletcher officiating. Calling is 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven with military honors. Preferred memorial are to Lifeway Wesleyan Church, Fort Wayne.
