John W. Goings' Obituary
John W. Goings, 79, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late William and Ruth Goings. He served his country in the US Marine Corp and was a member of the American Legion Post 330, VFW 2457, and Navy Club Ship 245. He was also a member of Moose Lodge 1480, where he was an administrator for 15 years and was honored with the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. John also owned and operated Goings TV for 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Shirley Goings; daughters, Debra Peterson and Sherry Janda both of Key West, FL, Anita (Tony) Millward of Gotha, FL, Sandy Fackler of Fort Wayne, and Karen (Doug) Jones of New Haven; brother, James Goings of Philadelphia, PA; 15 grandchildren, two step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his step daughter, Sandy Wissler; and siblings, Donald, Fred, and Gerald Goings, and Ruth Ann Tester.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 E. St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Rev. Donna Goings officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. Gold Coat ceremony by Moose Lodge 1480. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven.
