Joan Ellen Roemke's Obituary
Joan Ellen Roemke, 71, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at home with her family by her side. Born in Blue Island, Illinois she was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. She retired as an aerobics instructor from the YWCA with over 15 years of service. She loved crafts, pets, and was a collector and garage sale enthusiast.
She is survived by her children, Todd Klein, Tim (Lisa) Klein and Tara (Justin) Vaughn all of Fort Wayne; father, Harold E. Fischer of Fort Wayne; brother, Jim (Sue) Fischer of Florida; and grandchildren, Hanna and Madison Vaughn, Taylor and Charlie Klein, and Maggie Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mike Roemke in 2009; mother, Eleanor Fischer; and brother, Mike Fischer.
Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Paul Shoemaker officiating. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Allen County SPCA or American Cancer Society. Arrangements by E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven.
