Jerry L. Heckler's Obituary
Jerry L. Heckler, 77, of New Haven, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 21, 2013. Jerry was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. He married his loving wife Martha (Dressler) 54 years ago in Emanuel Lutheran Church, Avilla, IN. Jerry was an Engineer at International Harvester 21 years and worked after his retirement at Luginbill Wire and Superior Tool. He was a member of the US National Guard from 1958-1961. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature, history and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Martha; children, Mark (Karla Petry) Heckler and Cindy Baker; sisters, Carolyn Hein, Sharon (Gene) Perry; sister in-law, Sandra Heckler; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Katrina, Logan and Megan; and great grandchildren, Blaine, Colin and Eloise. He was preceded in death by his infant son, David; his parents, Clifford and Luella Heckler; and siblings, Kenneth and Kathleen.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is also 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Emanuel Lutheran Church or Central Lutheran School.
