Janet E. Hamman's Obituary
Janet E. Hamman, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Hadley House, Fort Wayne. Born in Bryan, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Everette and Elizabeth (Moog) Nofzinger. She was a member of Our Hope Lutheran Church, Huntertown. She was baptized as a six-month-old infant at St Paul Lutheran Church, Bryan, Ohio. She was confirmed in 1951 as a sophomore at NHHS at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven. She graduated from NHHS in 1953. She moved from New Haven to Fort Wayne in 2005. Held several years' service as an LPN with Dr. Kenneth Miller, formerly of Woodburn and Dr Edwin Stumpf, New Haven. Janet was the wife of Carl R. "Dick" Hamman who died in 2007 after they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Her mother Elizabeth died in 1968. As a member of Our Hope Lutheran Church she was Chairman of the Prayer Chain, a Member of Christ Lutheran Church Prayer Chain, past member of Our Hope Ladies Guild as Secretary, Past Vice President, a member on the Altar Committee, A member of LWML, a member of LAIM, Seniors Enjoying Life, Couples Evening Bible Study, past Teacher's Aid for Our Hope Lutheran School, past member of the Chancel Choir, Anchor Ringers, A past VBS teacher, past President, Vice President, and past Historian of Federation of Lutheran Women. She served as President of Concordia Theological Seminary Guild for three terms and received the Miles Christi Medallion in 2010 for her concern for the students and their needs
She is survived by her children, Marguerite Louise (Wayne) Horman, New Haven, IN., Cheryl Anne (William) Fish, Antwerp, OH. Cindy Sue (Jeff) Akers of Bluff City, TN. and Michael (Annette) Hamman of Fort Wayne; stepsister, Lois Harding of Columbia City; stepsister-in-law, Pat Nofzinger of New Haven; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jarrod, Billy, Erin, Joshua, Erika, Rob, Anna, Devanne, and Nyle; step granddaughters, Tiffany and Rose; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl "Dick" Hamman in 2007; stepbrother, and Danny Nofzinger in 2012.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, at Our Hope Lutheran Church, 1826 Trinity St, Huntertown, with visitation one hour prior. Burial in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn.
