James Sechler's Obituary
James "Jim" Sechler, 77, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born in Garrett, he was the son of the late Walter and Ellen (McDuffee) Sechler. He was a 1963 graduate of Garrett High school and went on to serve his country in the US Navy. He was a volunteer firefighter for Poe Fire Department, drove bus for Fort Wayne Community Schools, drove for the Amish, and retired from Ace Hardware in 2014. He loved hunting, fishing, and was a hunting education instructor for the DNR. He also enjoyed NASCAR and taking care of sheep and chickens.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy; children, Shaun (Jackie) Sechler and Melissa (Eric) Amstutz both of New Haven; and grandchildren, Austin, Hailie, and Ian Amstutz, Celeste, and Alex Sechler. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Doris Parrish, and Ron Sechler.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorials Gardens, Fort Wayne at a later date.
