James L. Nahrwold's Obituary
James L. Nahrwold, 78, of New Haven, passed to his eternal rest into the arms of our Savior on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at New Haven Care and Rehabilitation. Born on November 1, 1933, he was a lifelong resident of the Nahrwold homestead, on Paulding Rd., from a continuous line of Nahrwold's since 1870. The son of the late Elmer and Bertha (nee. Schmidt) Nahrwold, he served in the United States Air Force in the 1950's and in Korea. He retired in the 1970's from New Haven City Utilities and partnered with his brother, Larry, in farming and as active members of Maumee Valley Steam and Gas Association. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven.
He is survived by his nephews, Dr. David F. (Elaine) Nahrwold of Woodburn, Curtis F. (Karen) Nahrwold of Markle, and Timothy (Karen) Nahrwold of Rutland, MA; nieces, Rhonda (Fred) Rasdorf of Markle, Susan (Ramon) Laughbaum of Wadesville, Carol Nahrwold of Cincinnati, OH, and Melany Nahrwold of Fort Wayne; and first cousins, Rev. Harry Edenfield of MI, Joyce (Nahrwold) Schubkegel of MN, Allen Nahrwold of AZ, and Corinne Nahrwold of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred C., Elmer Jr., Larry, and Donald; and nephew, Joel Nahrwold (Stephanie Walton).
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is also 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial is in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Central Lutheran School, New Haven or Maumee Valley Steam and Gas Association, New Haven.
