James "Jim" D. Pemberton's Obituary
James “Jim” D. Pemberton, 84, passed away February 16, 2018 at home. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Ted and Gladys (Treese) Pemberton. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #330. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven, where he was an usher, Eucharistic minister, and member of the Holy Name Society. He retired in 1998 from Precision Fabrication with over 39 years and was a past volunteer fire chief for New Haven Fire Department. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching his great granddaughters play basketball.
He is survived by his children, Pam (Gary) Burk of Oxford, OH, Chris (Leon) Steury of St. Joe, and Ted (Amy) Pemberton of Nebraska; sister-in-law, Dorothy Pemberton of Port Charles, FL; nine grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marylen in 2014; brothers, Richard and Robert Pemberton; and infant sister, Phyllis Jean Pemberton.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Father Bill Sullivan officiating. Calling is also 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the church or Dekalb Hospice.
