James Lee Gallmeyer's Obituary
James Lee "Jim" Gallmeyer, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Sage Bluff, Fort Wayne. Born in Decatur, he was the son of the late Harold and Emelie (Buuck) Gallmeyer. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 330, Howard Bandelier VFW Post 2457, Navy Club Ship 245, and the New Haven Moose Lodge. He retired in 2006 from BF Goodrich after 37 years and in 2000 from New Haven Adams Twp Fire and EMS after 22 years. He was an avid card player who also enjoyed shuffleboard and ballroom dancing. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Jana Gallmeyer, Jada (Mike) Campbell, Jona (Rob) Croy, and James Gallmeyer; grandchildren, Jessica Gallmeyer, Devin and Bailey Croy; and great granddaughter, Addison Wolfe. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mary Jane; and siblings, Henry Gallmeyer and Lucille Steffey.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd, Fort Wayne with visitation from one hour prior. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E, New Haven. Burial St. John Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne with military honors.
