James A Butt's Obituary
James A. Butt, 82, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St Anne Home & Retirement Community, Fort Wayne. Born in New Haven, He was the son of the late Jess and Pauline (Snyder) Butt. He belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven where he was also a eucharist minister, and volunteered for Marriage Encounter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and 765 Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. Jim was a volunteer fireman for New Haven for 18 years serving from 1968 to 1986. He was the Fire Chief from 1976 to 1979. Jim was an electrical engineer for 43 years at Dana Corp and retired in 1999. As members of the Family Motorcoach Association, he and his wife loved their time traveling in their motorhome where they enjoyed camping, fishing, and snowmobiling. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Sandy (Mike) Hale; grandchildren, Jim (Angie) Hale, Josh (Amber) Hale, and Jason (Whitney) Hale; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Teresa (Mike) Koch, and Rita (Ron) Presdorf. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Teresa Butt in 2020; sisters, Mary Palmer and Roseann Eichman. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation hour prior. Visitation is also 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Masses, and East Central Fire & EMS.
