Ivan Richard Gerig's Obituary
Ivan Richard Gerig, 77, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Woodburn, he was the son of the late Harry and Ida (Ehresman) Gerig. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Woodburn where he served on many church and school boards. He retired in 2003 from Zollner Pistons after 42 years and was a member of the 25th Century Club. During his years at Zollner, he was president of the credit union and was a member of the company bowling league. He was also a farmer for many years, and enjoyed golf, reading and travel. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon (Remenschneider) Gerig; children, Todd (Faith) Gerig of Fort Wayne, Teri (Craig) Fox and Timothy (Susan) Gerig both of New Haven; brothers, Jerry (Chris) Gerig of Gilbert, AZ, Donald (Paulette) Gerig of Greenwood, and Dennis (Patty) Gerig of New Haven; and grandchildren, Brittany (James) Campbell, Alexis Gerig, Dylan (Brittany) Gerig, Anthony Gerig, Savannah Gerig, Benjamin (Audrey Stuckey) Fox, Bryce Fox, Connor Fox, Kristen (Alex) Brenneke, Morgan Gerig, Joshua Gerig, and Noah Gerig. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harold Gerig. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, 4412 Park St., Woodburn with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Tim Edwards officiating. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Christ Lutheran Church or Woodburn Lutheran School.
