Ira Ernest Zelt's Obituary
Ira Ernest Zelt, 81, of Woodburn passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Parkview Hospital – Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born on April 25, 1935 in Adams Township, he was the son of the late Arnold and Hulda (Koenemann) Zelt. A lifelong farmer in Adams Township, he also worked for Gardner and Byerly Masonary and Rushart Drainage. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, New Haven.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol (Doctor) Zelt; children, Monica (Dale) Bienz and Milton Zelt both of Fort Wayne; brother, Dale (Coreen) Zelt of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jeramy (Heather) Bienz, Jordan (Alyssa) Bienz, and Christina Bienz; and three great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Thieme.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek, 1910 N. Berthaud Rd., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Michael Blodgett officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church Gar Creek or Worship for Shut-ins.
