Herschell "Leroy" Halsey's Obituary
Herschell "Leroy" Halsey, 79, of New Haven, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Ashton Creek Health and Rehab, Fort Wayne. Born in Albion, he was the son of the late Herschell and Edna (McCowan) Halsey. He retired from BF Goodrich after 35 years. Leroy enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, tinkering around, small engines, and helping other people.
He is survived by his children, Sheila Halsey and Jeff (Michele) Halsey; stepchildren, Harold "Buddy" (Tiffany) Theriot and Tina (Pat) Heidenreich; brothers, Willard (Sandy) Halsey, Joe Halsey, and Raymond (Tuesday) Halsey; sister, Mary (Troy) Grant; ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Mary Jane Painter in 1996 and Catherine (Ryan) Halsey in 2011; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral service is 1 pm, Monday, January 19, 2026, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation three hours prior (10-1pm). Burial in IOOF Cemetery, New Haven. For online condolences please visit https://www.harperfuneralhome.com
