Herbert Dale Culbertson's Obituary
Herbert “Dale” D. Culbertson, 79, of New Haven died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born in Dekalb County to the late James and Edith Culbertson. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven. The US Marine served his country in the Korean War and retired in 1995 from Tokheim Corp after 45 years of honorable service. He enjoyed family, gardening, and fishing. He also loved working on homes and had fond memories of helping his father-in-law build a cottage home at Knapp Lake.
He is survived by wife of 58 years, Betty; children, Karen Culbertson of Evansville and Andrew Culbertson of Orlando, Flor.; and grandchildren, Sara Culbertson of New Haven and Shanelle Benson of Evansville. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; and four sisters.
Memorial service is 10 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with calling one hour prior to service. The Rev. Scott Zeckzer officiating. Burial is in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Food Bank.
