Helen (Oehler) Meyer Miller's Obituary
Helen Irma Edna (Oehler) Meyer-Miller was born on July 12, 1923, at home on the Hoffman Rd. south of New Haven. She was one of six children. One sister Ruth Scheumann survives. Two brothers, Otto and Walter Oehler, and two sisters, Dorothy Bearman and Edna Braun, preceded her in death.
Helen was baptized into the family of God on July 29, 1923, and confirmed on April 5, 1936 in the Christian faith, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Soest. She attended Hoagland High School and graduated in 1941.
On October 7, 1944, Helen married Russel Meyer at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Soest. They made their home north of New Haven on North River Road and lived on the same farm for over 60 years. Helen transferred to Russel's home church Emanuel Lutheran, New Haven. They were blessed with five children: Kenneth, Nancy, Penny, Daniel, and Thomas. Russel was killed on February 15, 1973, in a car-train accident on North River Road after 28 years of marriage.
Helen married Albert Miller on October 9, 1976. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2012. Helen is also survived by her 5 children Kenneth (fiancée, Julie), Nancy (Rick) Losher, Penny Meyer, Daniel (Cindy) Meyer and Thomas (Debbie) Meyer, 14 grandchildren: Jon, Jennifer, Julie, and Jillian, Sonja, Stephanie, Sarah, Shannon, and Sally, Andrea, Jessica and Brady, Melissa and Kristina, 13 great grandchildren (6 great-grandsons & 7 great-granddaughters), three step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren. Two grandsons, Chad Hoffman and Nathan Meyer, preceded her in death.

Helen was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran's Ladies Society. She enjoyed spending her winters in Sarasota, FL, and cheering on her grandchildren in their various sporting and school events.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 AT THE CHURCH. Burial is in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Central Lutheran School, or Alzheimer's Association.
