Harold C. "Pete" Peters' Obituary
Harold C. "Pete" Peters, 87, of New Haven died, Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare, New Haven. Born in rural Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late William and Mary Peters. He was a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Harold served his country in the US Army, and was a lifetime member of New Haven Conservation Club. He worked for Bremer's Home and Garden in New Haven for many years, and retired in 1988 from Guardian Photo. He was known for his bountiful garden, carpentry skills, and loved to square dance and fish.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Estella; daughters, Bev (Ric) Collier of Nashville, TN, Karen (Larry) Schamerloh of St. Louis, MO, and Diann (Jim) Cawvey of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, David Schamerloh and Sydney Cawvey. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Walter, William, Robert, Homer and Melvin; and sisters, Clara Peters, Irma Heidenreich, Velma Busse, Luella Busse, Florence Rekeweg and Marie Schwehn.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green St., New Haven with calling one hour prior. Pastor Scott Zeckzer officiating. Calling is also 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
