Gordon M. Schmutte's Obituary
Gordon M. Schmutte, 87 years young, went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Parkview Hospital – Randallia, Fort Wayne with his family by his side. Born in Corning, MO., he was the son of the late Fenton and Lola Schmutte. He met the love of his life at Kent University. Gordon went on to serve his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. He moved to Fort Wayne with his young bride and went on to retire in 1989 from Magnavox Corp. after 40 years as an Engineer. Gordon loved his family, his gardening, his music and just being a really great example of a caring family man.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan Schmutte; children, Steve (Glenda) Schmutte of Indianapolis, Dave (Mary) Schmutte of Eustis, FL, Karen (Gene) Murray of Fort Wayne, and Linda (Denny) Stuerzenberger of Monroeville; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2012 at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling two hours prior to service. Pastor Rick Taylor officiating. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Preferred memorials are to New Haven United Methodist Church or the Parkview Foundation.
