Gilbert C. Kiefer's Obituary
Gilbert C. Kiefer, 92, passed away Monday, August 10th, 2015 at the Sierra Winds Retirement Center in Peoria, AZ. Born in Decatur, IN on June 18, 1923 to the late Martin and Clara (Wietfeldt) Kiefer; he lived in Fort Wayne until 2004 when he moved to Arizona where he lived until his death. He served three years in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Gilbert retired from Fruehauf Trailer Company and Jensen Cabinet Company where he worked as a maintenance electrician.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; son, Darrell (Kae) of Berne, IN; daughter, Judy (Todd) Fleming of Surprise, AZ; five grandchildren and 4 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by brothers Art, Gerhard, Elmer and Ervin and sisters, LaVera Schroeder and Elda Schuller.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Kyle Krueger officiating. Calling is 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne with military honors. Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church Soest, Fort Wayne.
