Mr Gerald "Jerry" Schuckel's Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” E. Schuckel Sr., 83, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Saint Anne Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Edwin and Marie (Voors) Schuckel. He attended Central Catholic High School and International Business College. He served his country in the Naval Reserve for eight years and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven, where he was in the Holy Name Society. He later moved to Fort Wayne and became a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired in 1990 from Zollner Corp as a production manager after 30 years. His hobbies included card games, watching Notre Dame Football, traveling, playing one armed golf and especially being with family. He was a wonderful father and a great man. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Constance (DuBois) Schuckel; children, Gerald “Gary” (Sue) Schuckel Jr of New Haven, Michael (Mary) Schuckel of Woodburn, and Valerie (Lamar) McBride of Grabill; brothers, William (Helen) Schuckel of Duncan, British Columbia and Charles (Sally) Schuckel of Battle Creek, MI; brothers-in-law, Ron Reece of Fort Wayne, Fred (Carol) DuBois of North Carolina, and Phillip DuBois of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Michol Byanski of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; one step grandchild; seven great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren. He was also proceded in death by sisters-in-law, Pamela Reece and Rita DuBois. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Father Jay Horning officiating. Visitation is also 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with a vigil at 4:30 p.m. Private burial in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, New Haven.
