Gerald "Jerry" Bendele's Obituary
Gerald "Jerry" Bendele, 83, of New Haven, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Ottoville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Norbert and Marcella (Miller) Bendele. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. He was a truck driver for Gladieux Refinery for over ten years. He was also a member of Navy Club Ship 245, New Haven. Jerry also enjoyed gardening, his John Deere and Simplicity tractors, and NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon; children, Holly (Jack) Byrd and Jarod (Taylor Miles) Bendele; grandchildren, Adeanna Byrd and Jackson Byrd; and siblings, Ruth Gasser, Delores Austin, Geraldine Ricker, Carl (Fran) Bendele, and Roger (Brenda) Bendele. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Bendele, Alfred Bendele, and Dorothy Ricker.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 am Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 pm Monday, December 22, 2025, at Harper's Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Burial in the church cemetery.
